Great long walk today through some stunning country. I am in love with the Bierzo region of Spain, I even found a few bottles of Bierzo Mencia that I have in the home cellar. Did I mention that it was a stunning walk today.
From a spiritual perspective, given the way my right foot has been feeling I focused on the concept of suffering. The Buddhists believe that suffering is rooted in desire and to detach from all desire is the way to not suffer. While I do agree with this to some extent given our grossly materialistic culture, I think that suffering is a fact of life. For example, pain and physical and emotional suffering is part of the human condition and cannot simply be detached from. I think Christ came to earth and suffered and through this we have a God that gets it and provides a model for us. I am no theologian, but this is something that intend to do a bit more focusing on and understand a bit better from a variety of perspectives, post-camino.
